Dr. Akeredolu O.N. proposes a school of nursing for OSOPADEC


THE PROPOSAL ON OSOPADEC SCHOOL OF NURSING- Dr. Akeredolu O.N.

The aim is for this autonomous board for oil-producing areas of Ondo State to establish an independent School of Nursing, where courses such as RN Nursing, Ordinary Diploma and Higher Diploma in Junior CHEW, CHEW, Information Technology, Pharmacy Technician, and other health-related courses can be offered.

The vision is for the people of these areas, who will constitute over 90 per cent of the students, to have access to relatively affordable education. The school fees should be free for students from these areas or, relatively, very cheap.

The school buildings, accommodations, and staff quarters should be in either Ilaje or Ese-Odo Local Government Area, sponsored by OSOPADEC.

The staff members should be employed by this board independently of the State Government.

*lThe board should also work with General Hospital Igbokoda or State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa for practical training.

The board will also ensure accreditation for these courses by working with the Nursing Council of Nigeria and other relevant bodies.

The students from these areas should enjoy special yearly bursaries from OSOPADEC.

Dr. Akeredolu O.N., a Medical Doctor, a Surgeon, and a Neurosurgeon-in-training.
